Sueanne Costales Chadbourne joined our firm in 2008. At Beach Cowdrey Jenkins, LLP, Ms. Chadbourne’s practice focuses on the defense of physicians, nurses, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and professional organizations throughout California against claims of premises liability, negligence, personal injury, abuse and wrongful death. Ms. Chadbourne has extensive experience in litigation through jury verdict and is adept in complex law and motion and appellate matters. Following a short sabbatical in 2016, Ms. Chadbourne returned to the firm in November 2017.
Ms. Chadbourne received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine in 1992. She went on to serve in the Peace Corps, stationed in the Ivory Coast, West Africa. On her return, Ms. Chadbourne attended the University of Oregon School of Law where she held a judicial externship at the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals, completed a clerkship in Washington D.C., at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and assisted in the publication of The Endangered Species Act Applied to Endangered River Ecosystems, 40 Arizona Law Review 198-286 (1998). Ms. Chadbourne was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1999. She is also licensed to practice in Texas and previously in Washington.
Ms. Chadbourne began her legal career in Seattle, Washington, where she handled litigation and probate matters for a boutique firm. In 2001, she returned to her hometown of Ventura. She associated with a Ventura-area litigation firm focused on personal injury, toxic torts and general civil litigation from 2001 to 2008. Her work included the pre-trial motions to exclude a well known toxicology expert, leading to the successful appellate decision of Geffcken v. D’Andrea (2006) 137 Cal. App. 4th 1282.
Ms. Chadbourne is admitted to practice before all California and Texas state courts and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She is a member of the Ventura County Bar Association. Ms. Chadbourne was raised in Ventura, and enjoys living in Somis with her husband and young son.
